How to improve: Runescape Duelling
I strongly believe one major flaw of runescape dueling is the rules and how they are easily manipulated for scamming.
There is, for the purpose of this explanation, 2 types of rules for this thread I will discuss:
1) Visually represented rules
2) Non-visually represented rules
1) Visually represented rules
These rules are those which are not listed, rules with a graphical interface and interaction, which the output is easily identifiable. For example, the icons of armor slots on the duel option interface, wherein you may disable them (and a red cross overlays the slot when it's disabled) and you can easily define if you may or may not use a helmet, for example.
2) Non-visually represented rules
These are rules which are listed and subsequently listed again in text walls on the confirmation interface preceding the duel. These are the rules I see which could use visual improvement.
When we think about duelling scams or see them happen on Youtube for example, it's typically a scam related with non-visually represented rules. In the fine printed rules before the duel starts. The aforementioned listed rules which are clumped together and given no visual representation and cause the most problems.
How to improve the quality of this interface:
Give every rule a visual representation to coincide with.
For example, the rules "Players can use magic/ranged/melee based attacks" could all be replaced by 3 icons reflecting the attack styles, and enable/disable them with a "red cross" overlay.
